I am writing regarding the "Straight Talk Program." (Currently S.T.A.R.T), I really enjoyed listening to their stories and I appreciate them sharing their experiences with us. I think this was a really good learning experience for me personally.

First I would like to say thank you (for) talking to us. It showed me I could have lots of mistakes...but I can also prevent them because I have control over my life and no one else does. I would like to say thank you again and I think the program should continue.

Dear Babatunde... You were the one to open my eyes the most. I think I'm gon' listen 'cuz like I am getting in trouble you know and I just got off probation and you made me think I and some of my friends maybe they not the people I should be with. Oh yeah the thing that you said that stuck with me is when you said 'you don't miss what you have until it's gone' you were right. Thank you.

...It felt like you all were talking straight to me. I'm very lucky I got tried as a juvenile instead of an adult, to get a second chance. I learned that prison and my life is like 'dehumanizing' that was one of the things that smacked me in the face. I am almost 18 years old. You made a difference in my life and many others.

(the presentation) ...It really made me think about the choices I made and want to make. This helped me think about the future. Thank you guys for the time and effort.

Y'all made me realize that my life is worth more than selling drugs, fighting, and being in gangs...I want to change to become a better person and not behind some bars! I thank you for giving me some real stuff about life.

Thank you so much for coming and talking to us. You are all incredible people...I think you all put a little smack of reality into their fantasy world. You did to mine.

...Personally I could relate a lot with not wanting to listen to people who really care about me. So thank you for making a difference. A question I would like to ask is how do you deal with death?

...after a little bit in there listening to your reality, I could see the connection I shared with it. I have made some bad choices...but I wanted to write to you and tell you that you had a positive effect on me.
